Morehouse Community Medical Centers seeks an energetic full-time Dental Director. This position offers flexible hours. MCMC is a National Health Service Corps (NHSC) site and all locations are considered a Dental Health Professional Shortage area. 

This position is for a motivated individual interested in building upon our SBHC program and building a dental practice in Marion, LA. The position will be challenging and fast-paced and will essentially allow the successful candidate to build his/her own practice from the ground up without all the expense. The Dental Director will be responsible to establish a dental program for the organization which includes a full range of dental services including school-based dental care.

The Dental Director must be willing to do basic school-based dental care, work on the mobile unit, rotate to dental clinic sites, and build a rural dental practice that is integrated with primary care and behavioral health.

This position is approximately 85% clinical and 15% administrative.

Medical Assistant-Behavioral Health

Positions available in Monroe, Marion and Mer Rouge

Monday - Friday
8am - 5pm

Some duties may include:

  • Functions within the scope of their approved competency skills checklist.
  • Maintains confidentially of corporate and patient information.
  • Counsels patients upon first visit to the clinic, with a face-to-face encounter, regarding all available behavioral health services at MCMC while completing screenings for behavioral health issues not formerly identified.
  • Schedules appointments for the Behavioral Health Program for designated site.
  • Checks in all BH patients, accompany patient to room for services, set up telemedicine visit, and introduce patient and BH provider at designated site.
  • Monitors and provides outreach services to patients who have a positive PHQ-9 score during the medical visit.
  • Assists with monitoring current BH patients for improved PHQ-9 and GAD-7 scores to ensure patient is progressing with current BH treatment.
  • Maintains a list of community resources pertaining to all aspects of patient needs including other BH services.
  • Participates in Community Health Fair events to promote and inform public on BH services offered at MCMC.
  • Acts as patient advocate, identifies needs, develops rapport with community resources on patient behalf, and assists with problem solving to meet needs of patient.
  • Collaborates with fellow Behavioral Health Care Staff and coworkers in a teamwork environment.
  • Works to facilitate treatment referrals as ordered by providers. Monitors and works referrals/orders in the practice management system as outlined in MCMC policies and procedures.
  • Provides outgoing referral appointments to appropriate providers, per policy guidelines, and monitors activities to ensure services are actually being delivered and meets the needs of patients.
  • Ensures the delivery of services provided meets policy requirements and standardization.
  • Follows-up on all referrals/orders in the practice management system and makes sure appropriate documentation is in the patients’ medical records as outlined in MCMC policies and procedures.
  • Completes required MCMC training per policy, as well as maintains compliance with and knowledge of all MCMC departmental, facility specific and system-wide policy and procedure.
  • Attends mandatory departmental meetings and/or trainings.

  • In addition to the outlined duties above, as a patient-centered medical home, the incumbent fulfills the principles and theories outlined in organizational policies including assisting navigating patients as needed through the health system, making appropriate referrals to case/care management, communicating with the healthcare team to address patient/family/caregiver specific needs, etc.


Associates’ Degree in medical related field
2 years’ experience in medical clinic


  • Knowledge of medical business office procedures.
  • Competence to operate a computer software and basic office equipment.
  • Ability to operate a multi-line telephone system.
  • Skill in answering the telephone in a pleasant, professional, and helpful manner.
  • Ability to read, understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to establish rapport and maintain effective working relationship with patients, employees and the public.
  • Ability to remain well organized and detail-oriented.
  • Ability to maintain privacy in all aspects of the job.
  • Updates and maintains digital client records.
  • Ability to record patient information such as vital signs, weight, changes in medical history including medications, and PHQ9 and/or GAD7 results prior to each appointment.
  • Facilitates connection with prescriber via teleconferencing and support communication of needed information to and from the prescriber.
  • Participates and communicates with other departments to assure that tasks are completed.

SBHC Mental Health Provider (Union Parish High School)

7:00 am - 3:30 Monday - Friday
(when school is in session)

Mental Health Provider is responsible for implementing age appropriate educational programs, assessing problems and determining appropriate methods of treatment. The Mental Health Provider also implements interventions methodologies and functions in such areas as individual and group counseling, protective services and family consultations.


  • Assessments, planning, and implementation of psychosocial programs. 
  • Provides on-site evaluation of students referred to the SBHC clinic.
  • Ensures confidentiality of interviews, treatment and documentation. 
  • Prepares psychosocial educational materials as needed or required.
  • Coordinates with clinical school staff in the provision of services to patients. 
  • Provides referrals for services needed.
  • Files reports with social services agencies such as child protective services.
  • Acquires 20 hours of continuing education per year, which includes BLS.
  • Assumes other responsibilities as directed.


  • Master’s Degree in Social Work or Counseling
  • Nationally Certified Counselor
  • Licensed in State of Louisiana as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker or Licensed Professional Counselor or other such licensed professional to providing counseling services
  • Current CPR certification

Nurse Practitioner (Monroe)


- Screens patients to determine the need for medical attention.

- Reviews patient records to determine health status.

- Takes patient history and/or update patient history.

- Performs physical exams, comprehensive or problem focused.

- Initiates requests for lab and diagnostic studies.

- Performs clinical procedures according to policies and procedures.

- Arranges for or refers patients to needed services not provided at the clinic.

- Delegates duties permissible by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing.

- Keeps and maintains records relating to professional services rendered.

- Completes medical records documentation timely.

Monday - Thursday 8am - 6pm
Friday 8am - 5pm


Pediatric Nurse Practitioner preferred

Graduate of an accredited nurse practitioner program

Minimum 3 years experience as Nurse Practitioner

Current and valid Louisiana RN and APRN license

Current and valid Federal DEA and LA CDS license (or working toward licensure)

Current CPR certification
