Dental Coordinator / Patient Access Clerk

1. Develops procedures and auditing processes to ensure the dental program complies with and captures applicable data for organizational reporting requirements.

2.         Provides initial and ongoing training to the dental staff to ensure they meet or exceed job expectations and Customer Service Excellence Standards.

3.         Develops and makes recommendations for improvements to business processes, policies and infrastructure to improve operational efficiency for the dental program.

4.         Responsible for the development and ongoing maintenance/updates of policies and procedures for the dental program and ongoing oversight/monitoring to ensure consistent implementation among the staff across the organization.

5.         Reports program data to the Executive Management Team on an ongoing basis.

6.         Collaborates with the Executive Management Team, Clinical Directors, Program Coordinators and Site Managers to identify/resolve program related problems and to achieve synergy in functions and eliminate inefficiencies in health center operations.

7.         Responsible for Quality Assurance audits as it relates to the dental program and the timely reporting of data to the CPIC Committee.

8.         Participates in all appropriate meetings within the organization.

Expanded Duty Dental Assistant

Responsible for coronal polishing, sealant application, fluoride application and topical anesthetic application. May perform other related work such as making appointments, answering phone, and ordering supplies. Assumes responsibilities associated with duties under the supervision of the dentist. 

1.      Perform all dental assistance chair-side duties.

2.      Manage patients care, health history, take their vitals.

3.      Record treatment information and maintain patient records, including medical and dental histories.

4.      Take digital intra-oral and panoramic radiographs.

5.      Process dental diagnostic x-rays

6.      Examine teeth, gums, and related tissues to evaluate dental health, diagnose diseases or abnormalities.

7.      Clean teeth, polish teeth, apply fluoride and sealant using dental instruments.

8.      Make preliminary impressions for study casts and occlusal registrations for mounting study casts.

9.      Pour, trim, and polish study casts.

10.   Advise or instruct patients on dental care, causes and treatment of dental problems, or oral health care services.

11.  Provide postoperative instructions prescribed by dentist.

12.  Schedule patient appointments and procedures.

13.  Use personal protective equipment to protect patients and self from infectious diseases

Medical Assistant-Behavioral Health

HOURS:

Some duties may include:

  • Functions within the scope of their approved competency skills checklist.

  • Counsels patients upon first visit to the clinic, with a face-to-face encounter, regarding all available behavioral health services at MCMC while completing screenings for behavioral health issues not formerly identified.

  • Assists with monitoring current BH patients for improved PHQ-9 and GAD-7 scores to ensure patient is progressing with current BH treatment.
  • Maintains a list of community resources pertaining to all aspects of patient needs including other BH services.
  • Participates in Community Health Fair events to promote and inform public on BH services offered at MCMC.
  • Acts as patient advocate, identifies needs, develops rapport with community resources on patient behalf, and assists with problem solving to meet needs of patient.

Mental Health Provider is responsible for implementing age appropriate educational programs, assessing problems and determining appropriate methods of treatment. The Mental Health Provider also implements interventions methodologies and functions in such areas as individual and group counseling, protective services and family consultations.

SOME DUTIES INCLUDE:

  • Assessments, planning, and implementation of psychosocial programs. 
  • Provides on-site evaluation of students referred to the SBHC clinic.
  • Ensures confidentiality of interviews, treatment and documentation. 
  • Prepares psychosocial educational materials as needed or required.
  • Coordinates with clinical school staff in the provision of services to patients. 
  • Provides referrals for services needed.
  • Files reports with social services agencies such as child protective services.
  • Acquires 20 hours of continuing education per year, which includes BLS.

Behavioral Health Provider (Marion)

Start Date: September 1, 2019
Part-Time 3 days/week
8:30 am - 5:00 pm

Responsible for providing psychosocial services under the general direction of the Behavioral Health Program Coordinator in accordance with policies and protocols established by Morehouse Community Medical Centers and other regulatory agencies.

The Behavioral Health Provider is responsible for implementing age appropriate educational programs, assessing psychosocial factors causing emotional and behavioral distress, determining appropriate methods of treatment to address these factors, and advocate for patient to motivate toward obtaining patient-determined goals of treatment.

The Behavioral Health Provider implements interventions, methodologies, and functions in such areas as individual and group counseling, protective services and family consultations.

Some duties and responsibilities include:

  • Assess psychosocial and behavioral health needs, assess motivation toward change, assess challenges toward treatment success, treatment planning, and implementation of psychosocial services for patient while working to coordinate across multiple settings.
  • Work with the patient’s health team members to provide needs assessment including: gathering and assessing information regarding the patient’s needs, mental status, support systems, and inform patient of available financial, community, and governmental resources. Work with patients’ family members as deemed appropriate in regard to confidentiality.
  • Provide education content and counseling programs that will provide maximum benefit for each patient, both on an individual and group basis.
  • Provide on-site evaluation of patients referred by other members of the health center, provide brief interventions in an acute crisis situation and coordinate referrals for any in-patient psychiatric needs.
  • Counsel patients and interpret any specific psychosocial factors that are correlated to current behavioral health conditions, and advise on the incorporation of skills for the alleviation of anxieties and/or fears.
  • Interpret nature of mental illness and prescribed course of treatment to patients and families. Appropriately communicates family issues to other staff members.
  • Educate patient on patient’s partnership role in treatment including improvements to self-care practices, medication compliance, and compliance of treatment plan to assist with prevention of unnecessary ED or hospitalizations.
  • Provide short-term counseling that is goal-oriented to meet specific behavioral health and psychosocial needs and explore available options. This may include identifying dependency issues, identity crisis, interpersonal communication barriers, negative relationship interactions, and a need to improve boundaries, etc.; involving family as necessary.
  • Ensures confidentiality of interviews, treatment and documentation
  • Work closely with all members of the health care team to develop a comprehensive treatment plan to meet the patient’s identified needs, revise treatment plan as needed, and drive the plan to insure optimal treatment benefit.
  • Conduct surveys and studies relating to psychosocial status and patterns of population groups as directed.
  • Prepare psychosocial educational materials as needed or required and conduct behavioral health related educational presentations to clinical staff, patients, and patient families.
  • Coordinate with the medical staff in an integrated health team approach for the provision of services to patients. Provide referrals for additional services as needed.
  • Maintain annual national certifications and bi-annual state licensure.
  • Complete required MCMC training per policy, as well as maintains compliance with and knowledge of all MCMC departmental, facility specific and system-wide policy and procedure.
